Many moons ago I promised to introduce you to a little guy called Tim, made especially for my new, little guy, Theo. And here he is…

My nephew Theo’s new companion is made from the Simplicity 9524 pattern and is surprisingly simple to put together. He’s made from just two pattern pieces and becomes 3D with just a couple of well-placed darts. The most laborious part was stuffing the little fella – So. Much. Stuffing.
Tim is named after British astronaut Tim Peake, who is all set to shoot off the International Space Station (ISS) in 2015. No mean feat!…but even more monumental is that Tim will be the first Briton EVER to fly in to space without a private contract or without having to adopt American citizenship. I’d love for my little nephew to understand how cool all of this is, and of course, I intend to *gently* nurture his interest in all things space from a very tender age.
I searched high and low for some space-themed fabric that would fit the bill for such a special bear, and eventually found what I was looking for in the Benartex range of fabrics available from Plush Addict (unfortunately, they no longer have any in stock).
This pattern did make a slightly bigger bear than I first had in mind – the finished Tim turned out to rival the size of a two month old Theo.

Finally, here’s a pic of Tim all snuggled up in baby Korneel’s hooded baby towel (which was still waiting for Mom and baby to be ready for visitors and presents when this pic was taken), and I’m looking forward to telling you all about the epicness of making my own bias tape very soon. What is it they say? Patience is a virtue.
